'Vatsalyam's special session of Nambikkai on Jan11, 2013

'Vatsalyam' conducted a special session of 'Nambikkai', the students counseling program to help the target group overcome examination blues at the Corporation Higher Secondary School, K.R. Koil Street, West Mambalam, Chennai-600033 on January 11, 2013.


Designed and delivered by eminent yoga exponent & humanist, Prof.Krshna Vasudevan, this 2-hour programme set out to address a wide range of problems like examination fear, fatigue, lack of confidence, anxieties, lack of concentration, inability to retain what was learnt etc. that the students are faced with today.
In his address to the students, the Professor stressed the importance of 'Uzhaippu' (toil) , 'Unavu' (food) and 'Urakkam' (sleep) in right measures in achieving 'Uyarvu' (excellence). "There are no external impediments to one's success other than those that exist in one's mind" said the professor.

Outlining the 'Nambikkai' project and its purpose, S Balachandran, Secretary, 'Vatsalyam' expounded on how with self-confidence, one can overcome social and economic handicaps and cited the example of a youth, the son of a vegetable vendor who rose to become a Chartered Accountant with a BPO in the city.

In his address, Mr.E.Govindasamy, Education Officer, Corporation of Chennai expressed appreciation over the concept of the programme and congratulated 'Vatsalyam' for organising it.

That the programme had touched a chord was all too evident by the questions raised by the students during the question & answer session that followed.

The event was presided over by Mrs. Hemalatha Ramkumar, Headmistress of the school and compered by Mrs. V.ArulKumari, Tamil teacher who also proposed the vote of thanks.
